I had my top up all day ;O) - NOT!!!Photos
Just like to thank Richard Foster for organising another fantastic day out.
Had a great day, it was nice to meet so many people on and off the UK mailing list.
I took out numerous people for a few laps, David Bell, Andy Fox, Lisa Marshall, Rob brown and my copilot for the day john. First time my mate John had done anything like that (he owns a 150hp kawasaki) and he was amazed how well mx5's grip and how much fun they are and the fact that my 5 was in the 4.5k - 7k rev limit for over 120 miles and didnt complain once ;o) John is seriously looking at buying an mx5 in a few months time.
Out on the track, it was even more fun than January. It was hard work trying to get past other 5's, when our cars are so similar, but it did mean you had to rely on driving lines etc to keep up your speed and catapult past people.
At one point I'd been following a car for a few laps who wouldnt let me buy, saw Gordon Bell in his Greddy turbo behind me, I pulled over and Gordon just shot past him, must be nice to be able to do that ;O) Gordon kindly took me round the course for about 5 laps, I was really impressed. I knew Gordon had turned the boost down for the day, and he was running just 5psi, but his car was a lot quicker than mine and had no trouble getting past the mk2 1.8s.
Highlight of my day was a guy coming upto me after a session and asking if I had forced induction in my 5 as he was amazed how I just just blatted past him ;o) Cool!
Sorry to the guy on this list who asked me before donny if he could see what my JR CAI was like on the track, I couldnt remember your name, perhaps next time?
Before Donny I bought 2 new BFGoodrich's to replace my Avon ZVR1's and I was mightily impressed with them around donny, Coupled with Andy Fox (who always collars me early in the morning when I'm at my most vunerable) who duly fitted a donutz front engine brace bar to my 5, I really felt I had quite an advantage over a lot of the 5's out there both handling and braking wise, I was certainly overtaking quite a few ;o)
Good to see no mx5's in any crashes, cant wait for the next one!
