END OF DAY REPORT - 'from the team out there'

Couldn't start without mentioning this little pearl from yesterday that we forgot in our tiredness! Just after tea in a pub, Gary went to the gents and was stood at the urinal next to a local, minding his own business as you would expect, when all of a sudden from his pocket came.."Just going to Tesco's to refuel, will return to meet you to depart"...and with that the local rapidly zipped and left!! Another case of Gary and his marvellous talking privates!! Or it could have been the radio provided by Maxxion!!

But on a serious note, what can we say - another excellent hotel well recommended if anyone is down this way. It's the Bosavean run by Colin Lilley and his wife.

After the best breakfast of the holiday so far, we had a quick blat down to Lands End for photos. We were helped by the staff who allowed us free entry to the sign with our cars, and by the Morris Minor Owners club who took the group photos!

The roads down here are fantastic, the A roads are narrow and twisty and have the most beautiful scenery. We have been stuck behind all sorts : tractors, buses and a very sad white Z3 with its roof up - very poor!! But at least the whole tour bus waved as they went very slowly past us!

The best part of Gary's day was the brief stop in Newquay (or is it Nookie)!! He found a wooden statue outside a cafe equipped with breasts and a short grass skirt and a face that has been chasing parked buses...and was photographed attempting to form intimate relations with the statue!! Apparently he thought it was an ex-girlfriend!!

Mrs Hill gets a special mention...she bought three raffle tickets in Newquay to support a very worthwhile cause, and admired the cars as well! Thankyou very much Mrs Hill!

We then passed through a farm yard, and they threw a couple of geese at Bart (he must have been on an avoidance course because his 'toothless' grin is still intact!! )

We have taken a couple of minor detours to make up some time so that we can arrive at a reasonable hour, but still stayed close to the coast.

The weather began to improve just after lunchtime, and it saw us driving quite happily around the coastal areas of Cornwall and Devon - even a member of the local constabulary stopped us to find out what we were doing, but when offered some raffle tickets, seemed to have somewhere else to be rather quickly!! Obviously overworked and underpaid!!

We stopped for cream teas in a little country pub in Devon, and they gave us all so much food that driving afterwards was hard going! Yummy though!!

Well, would you adam and eve it, Bart's having a little stretch of his wheels across the Somerset moorland when a suicidal sheep decided that the time and means of ending it all was nigh...fortunately he lives to fight another day, and even more fortunately it won't be with Bart! (Andy the animals are conspiring against you!)

Usually Ian spends his time at the back so we don't get to see him much, but today he was made to go near the front and we found out why he stays to the rear. He managed to strip off his t-shirt in record time!! Does he do another job in the evening.... Does he pay them or do they pay him!!!

Just outside Bridgwater we met another couple with a gleaming BRG MK1...gleaming because after five days we still haven't managed to wash the cars!! Worryingly, while waiting for everyone to introduce themselves, Ian spotted a herd of sheep in the field across the road...and even more worryingly, Gary knew the difference in their sex from 10 metres away....Hmmm. We were shown the way to go 'home' to the hotel - a Novotel type thing which has plenty of hot water for Eileen whose hot water ran out just as she'd got all lathered up this morning(Oh er missus). Food and entertainment provided by Beryl and Tony, and superlative it was as well.

Its little things like this that make it easier to bear the 12 hour days...this may seem like an easy holiday, but believe you and me its hard work, and it certainly wouldn't be possible without all the work that has gone on both back at home and while en route..So get diggin' in those pockets and send a cheque to Andy Fox for the RNLI.....NOW!!

Bloody knackered and full of Beryl's marvellous food.....
