Organised by the North East Region of the UK MX-5 Owners Club

This initiative has to be the most ambitious project yet to be undertaken by the MX-5 owners club and is a unique opportunity to visit every corner of the country. Just imagine the variety of scenery to be encountered during the 14 day tour, from defiant granite cliffs to rolling chalk downs, from isolated bays to bustling promenades and from cottages to magnificent castles. Surely no other drive can offer so much.

The Plan

is simply to drive the coastland roads of mainland Britain. There is no correct way of doing the route, only an interpretation of what we think constitutes a coastal drive. Our enthusiasm to drive all the coastal roads has had to be tempered with the practicalities of time, distance and financial restraints. To this end the use of bridges and tunnels is, we think, entirely acceptable.

The Route

will start at Whitby and will follow the coast covering over 3600 miles during the 14 day tour. As the route has been produced with the aid of computer it lacks the local knowledge that could enhance our motoring pleasure.

The Pace

should allow us to enjoy our surroundings with time to stop at places of interest to us and should not become a race.

MAPS

either highlighted or with written instructions will be available and this should allow you to drive at your own pace and stop as you please or join the convoy.
if you wish the maps from Autoroute 2000 can be viewed or downloaded from each days web page
or from the list below.

Daily Mileages

have been kept as realistic as possible with most days being around 250 miles. To see where we will be the MAP should help you plan where you would like to join us if not doing the entire journey.

Accomodation

will be planned in advance and whilst Bed and Breakfast is the prefered option we will use hotels at some locations such as Lands End and some more remote areas of Scotland. List of accomodation
